Combining more than 100 years of hard work and shared knowledgeMas Ribot is an estate with a centuries-old tradition in the production of extra virgin olive oil, with its numerous centenary olive trees, some of which are thousands of years old, and its old press, which testifies to the long history of this estate.
Located on the southern slopes of the Gavarres Natural Park, in the Baix Empordà region, and therefore sheltered from the north winds, especially the north wind, with a mild Mediterranean climate, the olive trees are located in optimal sandy-clay soils.
Mas Ribot extra virgin olive oil is a tribute to and preservation of this artisan tradition, the heritage of the Empordà.
Our estate, which is being converted to organic farming, is home to an impressive olive grove with numerous hundred-year-old trees, many of which are unique, of the Argudell variety, native to this region. We also have more than a thousand young trees of the Arbequina variety, in a wide plantation framework that allows them to grow generously and to be cultivated in a traditional way.

During the months of December and January, the hustle and bustle, never better said, arrives to the olive groves of Mas Ribot, the harvesting of the best olives that will later become the awaited Extra Virgin Olive Oils with DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN EMPORDÀ begins.

We are very respectful with the land, the olive trees and the environment. We treat our olive trees, not with their economic profitability in mind, but with the conservation of the trees as part of the earth's heritage. Their fertiliser is 100% natural compost, which we prepare on the farm following the guidelines of regenerative agriculture.
We harvest our olives by hand, at the optimum moment of ripeness.
The fruit is immediately transferred to an oil mill in the region for cold processing by mechanical means, in order to obtain only the oil from the first pressing. It is decanted to remove impurities and bottled directly and stored away from light and oxygen to maintain the maximum properties of the extra virgin olive oil. The production of this artisan oil is limited edition, a unique batch where the bottles are numbered.
The quality and uniqueness of Oli de l'Empordà Protected Designation of Origin oil is guaranteed by the specific varieties of the area: Argudell, Corivell and Arbequina. Empordà oil has a clear, clean and transparent appearance. It has a remarkable complexity, with aromas reminiscent of fennel, almonds and aniseed. The taste and sensations are delicately balanced between sweet and bitter.

The Arbequina variety has been excellent this year, with good body, fruity aroma of olives, notes of almond, walnut and green grass and a good balance between spiciness and bitterness. The Argudell variety has had a more intense and slightly spicy flavour, endorsed by the DENOMINACIÓ DE ORIGEN EMPORDÀ.
